Part #1

On Tuesday, 30 May 2013, we took a trip to Swan Valley to visit The Shadow in Frits' workshop. A good amount of stripping down has started and parts were about to be sent to their respective restorers (e.g. wood, chrome, leather, etc).

Boot with full of parts from the car itself. Boot liner has been stripped as well. Reverse lights, number plate holder and chrome parts have been removed, revealing the original colour of the car, grey.

New rims!

Up on the hoist to look underneath.

Some mechanicals have been modified and fixed from previous jobs. Frits reveals that The Shadow has been in an accident prior to us purchasing the car.

Layers of steel can be seen overlapping each other from previous repairs. This sort of repair is very common when removing a section of the panel which has rust. Drain holes located along the bottom panel (below the door sills), in this case, have been blocked (i.e. caused by welding of the panels) and therefore moisture has been trapped in between the panels, causing further corrosion.

Suspension and its hydraulic components will be removed and then be completely overhauled. Some of the bushings are completely worn out. A grease nipple will replace some of the bolts to allow the ease of oiling or greasing the suspension during regular services.

Paint selection process! Paprika & Gold...

The interior colour will be kept the same. We will also have headrests installed both at the front and rear which did not come with the car when we purchased it.

A 1959 Silver Cloud III in silver & charcoal & a stretched Silver Shadow Mk II Limousine.

Stay bookmarked for more!
