After over a year of constant discussion, we have decided to go ahead with a thorough restoration (body & chassis, paint, chrome, upholstery, leather, electrics, mechanics, etc.) of The Shadow to her pristine glory.
Here are some photos of Frits' workshop in Caversham. He has several Silver Shadows under his care for maintenance and repairs, as well as his own collection of classic RRs, a Bentley and a Daimler, all available for hire.
The decision of the commencement of the restoration came after The Shadow encountered an accident on the way home about a month ago. Fortunately, none out of the five occupants in the car were injured. A getaway vehicle had driven onto the curb and had driven straight into the opened passenger side door.
After browsing the internet for hours looking for a certified RR repairer, The RROCWA (Rolls Royce Owners' Club of Western Australia) suggested we contact Frits.
Gladly, Frits was able to take on the insurance work for us. The shadow is insured under Shannon's.
The passenger side door was unable to close completely, although it would still open all the way. A second hand door was obtained by Frits as the original door hinges and panel would be too costly to be repaired. The painter had to be called in twice to blend in the paint. A hairline crack in the wood capping for the door was spotted and subsequently sent to Michael D'Uva of D'Uva French Polishers in Midvale, Western Australia for repairs.
Michael D'Uva will be the repairer and restorer for all the wood capping and panelling in The Shadow. He also restores antiques and furniture.

According to Frits, the restoration will take approximately one year plus if everything goes well...
